Crafted by one of Mittsu’s esteemed Japanese Master Ceramicists, each Kaji Juhi tile is a tribute to the art of traditional Japanese craftsmanship. These porcelain tiles are meticulously moulded one by one, embodying the dedication and skill passed down through generations.
In the kiln, the tiles undergo a transformative process, where natural textures and deep, earthy tones emerge in the glaze. This creates a distinctive and complex surface with ridged lines that highlight the depth and richness of each piece. The colours range from mossy greens and rustic reds to subtle greys and warm whites, reflecting the organic beauty of the Japanese landscape. The glazing technique results in variations across each tile, so some pieces within a sheet exhibit deliberate shade differences, enhancing their character and uniqueness.
With Kaji Juhi, each installation tells its own story. The textures catch and play with light, adding dimension and warmth to spaces, whether used as a feature wall or an accent strip. Ideal for designers and homeowners who appreciate understated elegance, these tiles evoke the timeless aesthetic of wabi-sabi, where beauty is found in the natural, the imperfect, and the unique.
