Introducing Kogarana, a stunning new addition to our exclusive tile collection, crafted with expert precision and artistry by one of Mittsu’s esteemed Japanese Master Ceramicists. Each Kogarana tile represents the pinnacle of Japanese craftsmanship, rooted deeply in centuries-old ceramic traditions. These exquisite tiles are individually molded by skilled artisans in the renowned city of Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture—the heart of Japan’s porcelain tile production.
Kogarana tiles are crafted from high-quality porcelain and undergo a meticulous glazing process. In the kiln, each tile’s surface comes to life, with textures and colors emerging through a natural, unpredictable firing process. This process creates unique, richly layered glazes, featuring deep, earthen tones and refined color transitions that evoke the raw beauty of nature. Shades range from rich browns and bronze hues to striking blues, and from deep grays to mustard yellows. Each color is vibrant, yet softened by organic gradations, giving the tiles a warm, rustic elegance.
Some Kogarana sheets are purposefully designed with a wide variation in shading, offering a beautifully diverse array that mimics the natural landscape. The textured surface captures light and shadow dynamically, adding depth and interest to any space. The variations in glaze depth, along with subtle lines and textures, give each tile an artisanal feel that is tactile and visually intriguing.
Ideal for both modern and traditional interiors, Kogarana tiles transform spaces with their authentic Japanese aesthetic, blending artistry with the practicality of porcelain. Whether used as a striking backsplash, or a feature wall, Kogarana tiles add a unique sense of heritage and refinement, embodying the beauty of traditional Japanese ceramic work in a contemporary format.
Each tile sheet from Kogarana is not just a design choice—it’s a piece of Japanese cultural artistry, a testament to Tajimi’s ceramic heritage, and a celebration of meticulous craftsmanship.
