Yuki is a glazed porcelain tile crafted by one of Mittsu’s master ceramicists from a family-run workshop that has employed the same techniques for generations, ensuring each tile embodies a legacy of craftsmanship and precision. Each colour tells a story: the standard white represents winter snow, the red symbolises the summer sun, and the black reflects the night sky on a mid-autumn day. The gentle curved form of the Yuki Border is naturally created using split bamboo, a material deeply familiar to the Japanese people.

Yuki tiles are a testament to this heritage. Each tile features a slightly concave surface that enhances its deep texture and creates a dynamic interaction with light, giving installations a sense of movement and flow across the wall. One of the most unique features is the speckling effect present across all tiles, which is most understated on the black variation, where the deep, glossy finish holds a mysterious allure.

Each tile’s naturally coloured edge adds depth and contrast to any installation, creating a visually rich, layered effect. The white variant is particularly fascinating—offering a flexible off-white shade that harmonises seamlessly with pure white fixtures while providing a soft contrast that makes it versatile across various design palettes.
